Sarah and the Autism Angels team are celebrating after being awarded charity status today. “We’re absolutely thrilled,” said Sarah. “Getting this status will allow us to do more fund-raising events and increase the help we give not only to children on the autism spectrum, but also to their families.
“Having a youngster with autism can put a tremendous strain on the whole family unit. We believe that working with every member of the family can raise awareness, remove limiting beliefs and build much stronger relationships. These families work tirelessly to make the child on the spectrum’s life easier, but who’s helping them?”
Autism Angels has been given some funding from the Autism Innovation Fund to run focus groups for parents and professionals, and prepare programmes that will have a real impact not only on the children’s lives, but also the family and community as a whole.
