Professionals working with Autistic Spectrum
Schools and the world in general can be a very stressful place for children and young people on the Autism Spectrum and often this is shown through challenging behaviours that parents, teachers and professionals try to manage. This can be a difficult and often upsetting moment for everyone involved.
Here at Autism Angels we have developed a model that gets to the route of an issue fast, enabling things to get back to a familiar and comfortable position for everyone as soon as possible.
The equine facilitated training model gives anyone likely to come into contact with someone on the Autistic Spectrum an informative way to look at common behaviours in a new light using the ‘Learning to Listen’ concepts. The 6 week workshop series is run during term times, on evenings from 6pm to 9pm.
During the programme professionals will be engaging in experiential activities with the horses. Horses have similar traits to children / young people and adults on the Autistic Spectrum, offering us this unique opportunity to work, time and time again with them finding the best solutions for all concerned.
